The unscheduled pay run creates an empty payslip so you can fill in the relevant information. Click Post. You can do this after 19 April for your employee's previous year-to-date figures in Xero.

You can't create an EYU if you've posted a pay run that falls after 19 April in the new tax year and contains a payment date in the previous tax year. You need to revert pay runs that match this criteria, then delete them. UK website to submit your changes.

Remove any existing EYU drafts for the pay calendar you want to use. Only one EYU can exist for each pay period. Click Update in the row next to any employee you want to include in the submission.

Review the year-to-date figures for the selected employee and overwrite them with the corrected year-to-date figures to show the Difference to submit. You can't enter a negative figure. Click Reset to revert any changes to the original filing amount. The original filing is displayed in the Difference column. Click Done to complete details for that employee. In the Payroll menu, hit Pay employees.

You can now save this file and import it directly to your chosen internet banking platform. Email your employees their payslips. You can also do this with historical payslips, as well. Go to the Payslips tab and click on Payslip History. Here you can download any historical payslips, save them as PDFs, and send them directly to your employees. Go to the Accounting menu, click on Bank accounts , and select Reconcile xx items for the bank account from which you made your payroll payment.

Find the statement line that represents that payroll payment. Go to the Create tab and create a spend money transaction. Enter the necessary transaction details. What is the account to which you code your payroll transaction, which should match the one selected in your payroll settings. Click OK. If your business requires specific dates, you can add additional days. You can then assign the relevant holiday groups to your employees. Set up your pension scheme so you can process pension payments.

Once your scheme setup is complete, Xero creates the employee and employer pension pay items. You can retrieve your scheme details and electronically file your pension contributions. Add pay items for any earnings, benefits, deductions, reimbursements, time off, and earnings orders that make up your employees' pay. If you switch to Xero Payroll midway through the tax year, add your organisation's opening balances so they're included in your year-to-date totals.

You might need to refer to the last submitted Employer Payment Summary EPS from your previous payroll software for these figures. Posting a pay run, even without employees in it, automatically submits your filings to HMRC. You can view the journal report by searching for the pay run payment date. If you've set up your organisation to process payments using a bank payments file and entered bank account details for your employees, download the payment file from Xero and import it into online banking to pay your employees. A Faster Payments bank file allows you to submit and process payments on weekends and public holidays, with a relatively fast processing time of two days.

A BACS file can only be submitted between Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, and takes three working days to process.
